DIVISION: SCHOOL OF TRANSPORTATION AND LOGISTICS
DURATION: 3 YEARS
Every person and every industry in the world is influenced by, and depends upon, transport and logistics. Consequently, there are so many diverse careers available in this exciting, fast-paced and ever-changing sector. People who work in transport and logistics are constantly kept on their toes. The industry needs to be flexible in order to accommodate the influence of public opinion, governmental decisions and environmental factors.
The programme aims to produce professionals who are well equipped to analyse and solve problems in the Transportation and Logistics industry. Increasingly the Transportation and Logistics sector has made its mark upon all industries, and stands out as one aspect of industry that contributes innovative strategies that places an organisation at its competitive edge in the role of globalisation. The creation of the ASEAN Free Trade Area (AFTA) in 1992 during the ASEAN Summit in Singapore has lead senior management to see the strategic role of Transportation and Logistics’ function as a competitive tool in distributing their products. A resultant significant reduction in the proportion of total cost of goods sold is made possible through fundamentally re-engineering logistics processes. Proper logistical procedures can lead a company to reduce cost and achieve efficiency by receiving greater responsiveness and reliability from suppliers. Reduced lead time; just-in- time delivery and value added services are ways of gaining market share and increasing profitability. Anyone who pursues this highly specialised and sought after field in Malaysia and throughout the any part of the globe is sure to reap a bright future.
The MUST academic programme equips students and offers them an opportunity to venture into the fast- growing and dynamic field of Transportation and Logistics.
